Will Grammys nominate ‘Black Panther,’ ‘A Star Is Born’ and other Oscar-friendly films?
The Oscars and the Grammys have seen a great deal of overlap over the years, naturally in regard to original scores and songs. Some Oscar-winning songs have also earned the coveted Song of the Year prize at the Grammys, like “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic,” “Moon River” from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and “A Whole New World” from “Aladdin.” Some films have even seen their soundtracks break through to Album of the Year, like “West Side Story,” “The Sound of Music,” and winners “Saturday Night Fever” and “O Brother Where Art Thou?” After a year of great music in film, we could see any of this year’s Oscar-bound movies double dip at the Grammys.

As far back as he can remember, the original was a staple his parents’ the video collection. “I don’t recall the first time I saw it,” he says. “Because it just lived in our house like furniture, with the other Disney movies.”

Steven Spielberg's West Side Story Remake Created a Brand New Role For Rita Moreno

  • BuzzSugar
West Side Story has found its leading man and created a brand new role for original cast member Rita Moreno, so count us as officially excited for Steven Spielberg's forthcoming adaptation of the classic musical.

Ansel Elgort is the lucky actor who's been cast to portray Tony in the Manhattan-set musical. The 24-year-old actor previously received critical acclaim for his role in 2017's Baby Driver, but this will be his biggest role to date by far. As for Moreno, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for playing Anita in the original 1961 film, she'll appear as Valentina, who is a "reconceived and expanded version of the character of Doc, the owner of the corner store in which Tony works." Ned Glass played Doc opposite Moreno in the first film, so it will be interesting to see how she changes the character, especially since Moreno will also be listed as a producer on the film.
