Dave Bautista Action-Comedy ‘My Spy’ Adds Ken Jeong, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Chloe Coleman to Cast

STXfilms announced on Wednesday that the studio’s upcoming action-comedy “My Spy,” starring Dave Bautista, has added “Crazy Rich Asians”-actor Ken Jeong to the cast along with Parisa Fitz-Henley (“Luke Cage”) and Chloe Coleman (“Big Little Lies”).

My Spy” follows a hardened CIA operative (Bautista) who finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, having been sent undercover to surveil her family.

The film, currently in production in Toronto, is being directed by Peter Segal (“Get Smart”) from a script penned by Jon and Erich Hoeber (“Red”).

Jamie Neumann, who can currently be seen on HBO’s “The Deuce” as Dorothy, has joined the cast of the Stx action movie “17 Bridges.” Sources also tell Variety she has landed a recurring role on Netflix’s “Jessica Jones” and “NOS4A2.”

17 Bridges,” directed by Brian Kirk, stars Chadwick Boseman, J.K. Simmons, Taylor Kitsch, and Stephan James.

Boseman will portray a disgraced NYPD detective who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption. J.K. Simmons has been rather busy since snagging an Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG, BAFTA and more than three dozen other industry trophies for “Whiplash.”

“In the wake of all the awards, the most significant change was just the shear amount of job offers,” Simmons says. “The shear number of offers has increased greatly. Not necessarily the shear number of good offers. Or really brilliant scripts.”

Nonetheless, Simmons has managed to whip up lots of great roles from all of those job offers while dodging anything similar to that terror-inspiring music teacher who earned him so many kudos.

“Right after ‘Whiplash’ and right after all the awards, there were a lot of offers to play the mean, sadistic bastard who berates everybody,” he says. “I managed to steer clear of those, I think.

Back in July it was announced that Chadwick Boseman will be headlining the action thriller 17 Bridges and now we have word of more additions to the cast with Variety reporting that J.K. Simmons (Justice League), Sienna Miller (Live By Night) and Taylor Kitsch (Waco) have joined the film.

According to the site, the film will see Boseman as a disgraced NYPD detective “who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption. As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. 17 Bridges” stars Boseman as a disgraced NYPD detective who is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy.

As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 17 bridges to prevent any entry or exit from the island.

The studio, a division of Stx Entertainment, did not specify what roles Simmons, Miller or Kitsch will play.

Chadwick Boseman Action Thriller ‘17 Bridges’ From Russo Brothers & STX Targets Summer 2019 Release
17 Bridges, the action thriller production from the Russo Brothers starring Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War’s Chadwick Boseman, will open on July 12, 2019. News of the release date for the SSTXx film comes three weeks before production commences.

No other major studio release is set for that date yet. Disney’s live-action take on The Lion King arrives on July 19, an untitled New Line Annabelle movie arriving on July 3, and Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home swinging in on July 5.

Brian Kirk is directing from a script by Adam Mervis with rewrites by Matthew Carnahan. 17 Bridges follows a disgraced NYPD detective (Boseman) who is given a shot at redemption after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer.

The Russo Brothers are producing with Boseman and his writing and producing partner Logan Coles, while Mike Larocca will serve as the EP via the brothers’ Agbo banner.

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman is about to take a break from the majesty of Wakanda to head over to the Big Apple as the star and producer for STXfilms' action thriller 17 Bridges. However, he’ll be joined by some familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe personnel.

17 Bridges will star Boseman as a disgraced NYPD detective. When his character is thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, he is given a chance at redemption. In addition to Boseman, Boseman's writing and producing partner Logan Coles and Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo will also act as producers on the film.
